What is Spam?

Spam is defined as: Unsolicited "junk" e-mail sent to large numbers of people to promote products or services. Sexually explicit unsolicited e-mail is called "porn spam." Also refers to inappropriate promotional or commercial postings to discussion groups or bulletin boards.

How can Prevent Spam?

It is impossible to 100% stop all spam e-mail from ever being sent to your account, but there are ways to help eliminate spam.

1.  Limit the amount you distribute your e-mail address to companies/promotions wanting to register you for free information etc.  Quite often these addresses are sold to spammers.

2.  Limit the amount you forward joke e-mails and other e-mail pass arounds.  These can you used to gather lists of e-mail addresses to send spam to.

3.  Setup the JCN spam filters on your e-mail box at JCN.  Click HERE for a popup with instructions for enabling these.
